I absolutely love this new collection!  They are almost more Scottish than tartan!  This truly inspiring Scottish collection is a stunning mix of fabrics and textures, colours and designs which individually or as a collection make a striking statement wherever they are used.  I had these on my brown leather sofa before they were added to my range. In keeping with the whole essence of totally tartan, I have kept with tartan and wool, however I have used some of the beautiful modern plaids around at the moment.  Then I have added contrasting estate tweeds, perfect for creating that fresh Scottish countryside feel without the complete tartan look. Finally I have added another iconic Scottish design which I think embodies the personality of the collection.

stags head tartan cushions

Firstly, there are the stags head plaid cushions.  Simply stunning in this striking silhouette of the Monarch of the Glen will definitely bring the country look into your living room. Then there are the Lion Rampant plaid cushions.  Spectacular with his masculinity, yet subtle due to the softness of the muted shades.  I have to admit this is a favorite of mine but I do hate cutting them out.

Then there is the St. Andrews cross plaid cushions.  I think the union jack has been exploited a bit over the past few years whilst the more subtle St Andrews Cross has remained in the shadows which is a shame as I think it is a perfect yet subtle Scottish statement, even if your not Scottish. Lastly there are more little heart plaid cushions.  For no bold patriotic reason other than it simply looks good.

Lion Rampant Plaid Cushions

Handmade to order with traditional piping and a zip fastening.  The design is appliquéd on generally with tweed over plaid however they can be made in tweed over plaid if you wish. Also if , or any other special requests, for example two lions on two separate cushions, but facing each other, just drop me an email first just in case your asking the impossible.

The stags head plaid cushions and the lion rampant plaid cushions are made in an 18" square while the St. Andrews Cross plaid cushions and the heart plaid cushions are rectangles measuring 17"x13". All the Scottish collection plaid cushion covers are backed in a contrasting faux suede which helps prevent it from slipping off your sofa.

Country Tweed Tartan cushions

Country Tweed - The most subdued of the four colour combinations, this collection of muted colours is exactly what a tweed should look like.  The base colour is Slate green with bottle green, chocolate, caramel and cream lines forming the plaid.  The contrasting colour can either be the herringbone in slate green and beige or the rich chocolate velvet.  The faux suede backing is a milk chocolate colour.  The ice blue thistle cushion really enriches this collection.

Chocolate Rapture Tartan Cushions

Chocolate Check - The colours in this background tartan are soft shades of chocolate brown, caramel, beige, grey and cream with a subtle touch of burnt orange.  I have exploited the burnt orange with the use of my bold contrasting burnt orange tweed, a warm colour which brings the tartan to life and makes a real statement.  However the rich chocolate velvet also adds an exuberant finish, especially in the stags head plaid cushion.  The faux suede backing is a chocolate brown.

Burnt Orange Tartan Cushions

Burnt Orange - No matter how hard I try, I cannot move away from the rich tones of burnt orange, or as some may call it, Terracotta.  This is an unusual combination of burnt orange and mandarin with slate green and navy stripes.  The first contrasting fabric I chose was the deep orange which has a lovely soft velvety sheen however I also think the slate green and beige tweed compliments this beautifully.

Heather Tartan Cushions

Highland Heather - This is probably the most modern tartan of the collection with cerise pink, plum, lilac, bottle green and mustard blending beautifully. Sorry but I need to mention the Scottish hills bursting with heather again!  A striking combination almost subdued by my use of the purple tweed which is striking in itself and it is the only contrast colour that looks good with this tartan. The faux suede backing is a deep purple.  This heather tartan cushion coordinates beautifully with the traditional purple thistle cushions.

It is very difficult to get an accurate representation of the colours because every ones computer is different so colours vary greatly however I have tried to describe the colour combinations above and below I have put a close up of each of the plaids with the contrasting fabric options.  I can send out small samples if you want to match the colours with anything else, just drop me an email.

Shetland wool throws

Lastly, don't forget to have a look and see if you can get a coordinating throw.  The Shetland wool range coordinated best with the Scottish Collection.  The wool throw is 137cm x 183cm and have a rolled fringed effect at two ends.  They make an ideal tartan gift and can be used as a wool throw draped over your sofa to snuggle into on the chilly Scottish Summer nights!
